Saints Lose Leg 1 of 71 Cup
June 8th, 2015
Charlie Hatch
The Cincinnati Saints fell, on the road, 1-0 to AFC Cleveland on Saturday night.
AFC Cleveland took the lead in match one of the I-71 Cup with a goal from Sergio Manesio in the 78th minute.
Perhaps the big moment for the Saints came from goalkeeper Dan Williams, who had a penalty save in the 42st minute. Williams made his first appearance for the club this season, starting over Justin Saliba and Corey Wisenhunt.
Including Saturday night’s match, the Saints have six points from their first four matches.
Both teams will meet again Wednesday night at Withrow’s Angus King Stadium, at 7:00 p.m. The Saints will enter the “second leg” of the interstate rivalry undefeated at home.
In Cincinnati’s two home matches, forward Khristian Montoya has scored in each game and leads the Saints with three goals this campaign.
